Sanam Tahmasebi is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and interdisciplinary maker whose voice moves between tradition and experimentation. Born in Tehran and shaped by years of study across Iran, Italy, the U.S., and the Netherlands, her work navigates Persian modes, contemporary and electroacoustic textures. Rooted in movement, sound, and poetry, her performances open intimate spaces where memory, resistance, and transformation unfold.
Her art lives in the tension between the ancient and the newβbetween structure and improvisation. She has performed across Europe at festivals such as Oerol, Into the Great Wide Open, and Uitmarkt, and continues to build a body of work that challenges form and invites reflection.
